    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
    1-3  to recognize Rafael Alejandro Trevino of Laredo for his special
    1-4  contribution to the Texas Capitol Rededication Parade on
    1-5  April 22, 1995; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A second grade honor student at Honore Ligarde
    1-7  Elementary School, Rafael appeared in a handsome Charro outfit, a
    1-8  costume representative of Laredo's rich Mexican American heritage;
    1-9  the traditional Charro costume is the formal attire of vaqueros or
   1-10  cowboys in the Republic of Mexico; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Chosen to represent his district in the Capitol
   1-12  Rededication Parade by Senator Judith Zaffirini, Rafael wore the
   1-13  Charro costume to showcase the diverse Texas culture and Texas
   1-14  children; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The second grader excels in academic and
   1-16  extracurricular activities; he has perfect attendance and
   1-17  exemplary conduct and has had straight A's on his report card from
   1-18  1993 through 1995; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Rafael was a winner in the Ligarde School Science
   1-20  Fair, and his project was sent to compete in the district's Science
   1-21  Fair; a multitalented child, Rafael was a winner of the Creative
   1-22  Writing Composition 1993-1995 and was selected Student of the
   1-23  Month in September, 1993, and October, 1994; he won first place in
    2-1  the Red Ribbon essay contest and First Place in the Red Ribbon
    2-2  Poster Contest in 1994; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The gifted student enjoys extracurricular activities
    2-4  as well; experienced in riding in parades, Rafael rode on the
    2-5  winning float in the 1993-1994 Washington's Birthday Celebration
    2-6  Grand International Parade; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend Rafael Alejandro Trevino for his
    2-9  academic achievements and extend best wishes to him for continued
   2-10  success in the future; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-12  as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate and as a
   2-13  memento of his participation in the Texas Capitol Rededication
   2-14  Parade.
