    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Sarah Carlene Laine on the auspicious occasion of her
    1-4  high school graduation; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A pioneer in the home school movement, Sarah Laine
    1-6  has successfully completed her high school studies in English,
    1-7  Latin, Spanish, algebra, advanced mathematics, world history, and
    1-8  American history; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, She entered Brazosport Junior College at the age of
   1-10  15 as a concurrent student and received a full piano scholarship to
   1-11  Brazosport College while taking a 16-hour course load at the age
   1-12  of 16; a highly talented student, Sarah maintained a grade point
   1-13  average of 4.0 throughout her studies and was inducted into Phi Beta
   1-14  Kappa; she has also served as the college's State Jazz Band Pianist;
   1-15  and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Sarah is an exemplary young lady of high moral
   1-17  principles who establishes her goals and pursues them with
   1-18  perseverance and clear-sightedness; she is an obedient, gracious,
   1-19  and helpful daughter and a true friend to her parents and loved
   1-20  ones; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she is a faithful and true
   1-22  servant of the Lord Jesus Christ whom she recognizes as her savior
   1-23  and the author of life; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Sarah Laine's notable accomplishments are evidence
    2-2  of her hard work and outstanding abilities, and she is a source of
    2-3  much pride to her family and her community; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby commend Sarah Carlene Laine on her
    2-6  exceptional achievements and on completing her high school studies;
    2-7  and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
    2-9  as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
