    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is very pleased
    1-3  and proud to recognize Leonard's and Margaret's of Giddings on the
    1-4  grand occasion of its 40th year of operation in Giddings, Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The business had its beginning in February, 1955,
    1-6  when the Kriegel family moved to Giddings and purchased Heck's
    1-7  Men's Clothing Store and remodeled and named the business Leonard's
    1-8  Men's Wear; in 1957, the store next door was purchased and reopened
    1-9  as Margaret's; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The two businesses combined and became Leonard's
   1-11  and Margaret's Incorporated Family Fashion Center in 1977; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Throughout the years Leonard and Margaret have been
   1-13  very active in the Giddings community; they have held benefit style
   1-14  shows frequently over the years; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Leonard's and Margaret's has had many faithful
   1-16  employees throughout these 40 years; the family is especially
   1-17  grateful to their trustworthy sales associates; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Longtime employees include Mrs. Vera Weigelt,
   1-19  Mrs. Flora Sump, Mrs. Clara Vahrenkamp, Mrs. Delores Muniz Smith,
   1-20  and Raymond Machac, and present employees include Ira Bell Bathe,
   1-21  Mrs. Ruby Herzog, Mrs. Donna Moerbe, Mrs. Angela Kauffman, and
   1-22  Mrs. Gretchen Rodstrom; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, For the past 13 years, Gretchen, daughter of
    2-1  Leonard and Margaret, has been assisting them in the buying,
    2-2  merchandising, and management of the business; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The success of this outstanding store can be
    2-4  attributed to the many wonderful customers who have patronized
    2-5  this business for the past 40 years and to the genuine interest
    2-6  that Leonard and Margaret have had in providing excellent service
    2-7  to their many customers; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby commend Leonard's and Margaret's Family
   2-10  Fashion Center for its 40 years of service to the community of
   2-11  Giddings; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-13  store as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
