    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Schulenburg girls golf team is the proud winner
    1-3  of their first Class 2A state championship, and the Texas Senate
    1-4  is pleased to honor this fine team; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, In capturing the state title the girls golf team
    1-6  featured a talented group of players who displayed the confidence
    1-7  and poise necessary to capture a championship title; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, No strangers to the playoffs, the Shorthorns
    1-9  finished eighth in 1992, seventh in 1993, and fourth in 1994; the
   1-10  team's 36-hole score of 739 was 15 strokes better than runner-up
   1-11  Post; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Feeling some pressure from Post at the nine-hole
   1-13  turn, the girls fought through the emotion and remained coolheaded
   1-14  to finish on top; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In a concerted team effort, the members believed
   1-16  in themselves enough to make their dream come true and experienced
   1-17  a once-in-a-lifetime thrill; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Coach Cece Oden came to Schulenburg as the girls
   1-19  golf coach five years ago and is to be commended for her superb
   1-20  coaching which has brought her team to a championship performance;
   1-21  and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Team members Kim Harlin, Jill Herzik, Torie Shimek,
   1-23  Kassie Hoeinghaus, Jennifer Henk, Melanie Orsak, Jamie Bell,
    2-1  Megan Dach, and Crystal Vecera have brought acclaim to themselves,
    2-2  their coaches, their parents, and their school, and they are truly
    2-3  deserving of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Schulenburg
    2-6  High School girls golf team on their splendid achievement; and, be it
    2-7  further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them
    2-9  as a token of the admiration of the Texas Senate and as a memento of
   2-10  this high attainment.
