No. 1172 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize the Lake Jackson Police Department which has two 1-4 officers, Patrolman Randy Crim and Sergeant Clark McGrael, who 1-5 will be running in the 1995 Texas Special Olympics Torch Run; and 1-6 WHEREAS, From the Houston and Galveston area approximately 1-7 125 participants will run from the Houston Police Department 1-8 Headquarters on May 23, 1995, to Brenham, Texas; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The runners will spend the night in Brenham and 1-10 the next day will run to Austin; opening ceremonies will be held 1-11 that night to kick off the Special Olympics; and 1-12 WHEREAS, From throughout the State of Texas, about 600 law 1-13 enforcement officers who have been involved in raising funds for 1-14 the Special Olympics and who have participated in the Torch Run 1-15 will be present; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The Special Olympics is a year-round athletic 1-17 training and competition for people with disabilities; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Participation in athletics provides an effective 1-19 way for people with disabilities to develop self-discipline and 1-20 dedication and to experience the enjoyment of achievement; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The participation of this large group of runners 1-22 shows that the Special Olympics has broad support throughout the 1-23 State of Texas; many citizens and groups have worked to raise 2-1 funds to help finance the games; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby salute the many participants who have 2-4 volunteered to take part in the 1995 Special Olympics Torch Run 2-5 and express admiration for their efforts; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 Patrolman Randy Crim and Sergeant Clark McGrael of the Lake Jackson 2-8 Police Department as a memento of their contributions to the 2-9 successful outcome of the Special Olympics and as an expression 2-10 of the high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on May 23, 1995. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
