    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Jeanette Crell, who received the Golden Apple Award at a
    1-4  banquet on April 21, 1995, sponsored by the Houston County Chamber
    1-5  of Commerce; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Jeanette Crell taught for 50 years and specialized
    1-7  in educating deaf students for 33 years; she established the first
    1-8  classes for deaf students in the Houston public school system in
    1-9  1945; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The speaker at the Second Annual
   1-11  Education Appreciation Banquet was retired United States
   1-12  Army Colonel Howard Daniel, Jr., owner of Personal Development
   1-13  Specialist Company of Livingston, who told the audience that
   1-14  today's young people need teachers to be role models and to give
   1-15  students more positive reinforcement now than ever before; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Jeanette Crell was honored at the awards ceremonies
   1-17  in recognition of exceptional devotion to her profession; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Jeanette's students benefitted immeasurably from
   1-19  the caring spirit of this dynamic educator who gave so generously
   1-20  of her time and talent; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Jeanette was an inspirational instructor and leader,
   1-22  and she instilled in her students a sense of pride and a lifelong
   1-23  love of learning; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, An exceptionally resourceful and dedicated teacher,
    2-2  Jeanette was an enthusiastic educator who distinguished herself in
    2-3  her profession and who imparted to her students the skills necessary
    2-4  for competing in tomorrow's society; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby commend Jeanette Crell for her
    2-7  contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend
    2-8  congratulations to her on receiving the Golden Apple Award; and,
    2-9  be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-11  as an expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas Senate.
