    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Pearland Memorial Post 7109 of the Veterans of Foreign
    1-4  Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary on the momentous occasion of their
    1-5  25th anniversary; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Pearland Memorial Post 7109 of the Veterans of
    1-7  Foreign Wars was chartered on February 26, 1970, and the Ladies
    1-8  Auxiliary was chartered on May 14, 1970; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The Pearland Memorial Post 7109 and its auxiliary
   1-10  have been dedicated supporters over the years of veterans and their
   1-11  families; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The members of these meritorious organizations have
   1-13  been quite active in assisting the community of Pearland through
   1-14  support for many worthwhile projects including Cancer Aid and
   1-15  Research fundraisers; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The membership also contributes to continuous support
   1-17  of patients at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Deeply patriotic and committed to the betterment
   1-19  of the community, the Pearland post has devoted time to raising
   1-20  funds for the Voice of Democracy scholarship contest for high
   1-21  school students; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, These outstanding organizations have also supported
   1-23  special programs for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Loyalty Day, and
    2-1  Independence Day; money has also been raised through the annual
    2-2  "Buddy Poppy" sale for the benefit of disadvantaged veterans; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting that the Texas Senate honor
    2-4  the members of of the Pearland Memorial Post 7109 and the Ladies
    2-5  Auxiliary for the love they have demonstrated for their country
    2-6  and for their extraordinary valor and loyalty; now, therefore,
    2-7  be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the patriotic membership
   2-10  of the Pearland Memorial Post 7109 and the Ladies Auxiliary on
   2-11  the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their founding; and, be
   2-12  it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  them as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
