    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Rogers J. Boudreaux, Sr., an outstanding citizen,
    1-4  on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Boudreaux's Better
    1-5  Home Furniture Company, Incorporated; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A native of Opelousas, Louisiana, Rogers Boudreaux
    1-7  established Boudreaux's Better Home Furniture Company, Incorporated,
    1-8  in Houston's Third Ward in 1950; it is the oldest African American
    1-9  owned furniture company in Houston; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The company was originally a one-man furniture
   1-11  restoration shop that offered refinishing, repairing, and
   1-12  reupholstering services; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A resourceful and hardworking individual,
   1-14  Rogers Boudreaux moved the business to its present location in
   1-15  the mid-fifties and expanded it to include the sale of high
   1-16  quality residential furniture, contract and commercial furniture,
   1-17  window and floor coverings, and interior design services; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, An astute businessman and successful entrepreneur,
   1-19  Rogers Boudreaux has served hundreds of residential clients and
   1-20  commercial clients, such as the City of Houston, Shell Oil
   1-21  Company, Texas Southern University, and the University of Houston;
   1-22  his company now has five full-time employees; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, A highly respected leader in his community,
    2-1  Rogers Boudreaux serves as chairman of the Membership Campaign
    2-2  and Business Committees for the Houston Citizens Chamber of
    2-3  Commerce; he is on the Board of Directors for the Light House for
    2-4  the Blind, a member of the Business and Professional Men's
    2-5  Association, and a member of the Advisory Board for Houston
    2-6  Independent School District; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
    2-8  Rogers Boudreaux has contributed greatly to his community and
    2-9  has given generously of his time and energy to others; his many
   2-10  personal and professional accomplishments are a source of pride
   2-11  to his family, to the citizens of Houston, and to his state;
   2-12  now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-14  74th Legislature, hereby commend Rogers J. Boudreaux, Sr., on
   2-15  his community leadership and his successful career and extend
   2-16  congratulations to him on the 45th anniversary of Boudreaux's
   2-17  Better Home Furniture Company, Incorporated; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-19  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
