No. 1199 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize the Promise Keepers; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The idea for Promise Keepers was planted in the 1-5 heart of Colorado University head football coach Bill McCartney 1-6 as he and his friend Dave Wardell drove from Denver to Pueblo, 1-7 Colorado; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The idea was to fill Colorado University's Folsom 1-9 Field with 50,000 men gathered to honor Jesus Christ and to learn 1-10 more about becoming men of integrity; the goal was realized in 1-11 1993; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Promise Keepers is a Christ-centered ministry 1-13 dedicated to uniting men through vital relationships to become 1-14 positive, moral influences in their world; and 1-15 WHEREAS, As Promise Keepers has grown, the vision has 1-16 expanded; throughout the nation, the hearts of over 280,000 men 1-17 were touched in seven different cities in 1994; and 1-18 WHEREAS, This year, Promise Keepers is committed to holding 1-19 13 nationwide men's conferences expected to reach over 500,000 men; 1-20 the Promise Keepers believe that God wants their conferences to be 1-21 a spark in His hand to ignite a nationwide movement calling men to 1-22 reconciliation, discipleship, and a commitment to godliness; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Promise Keepers on their 2-3 success and wish them great good favor in the future; and, be it 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-6 organization as an expression of the goodwill and esteem of the 2-7 Texas Senate. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 25, 1995. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
