No. 1219 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Glenna Irene Lane on the occasion of her retirement 1-4 in August, 1995, after a decade of meritorious and distinguished 1-5 service on the staff of Senator John Montford; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Since January, 1985, Mrs. Lane has served with 1-7 diligence and ability; she has set a high standard of 1-8 professionalism inspiring others by her loyalty, dependability, 1-9 and exemplary conduct; and 1-10 WHEREAS, A native of San Angelo, Glenna grew up in Waco where 1-11 she was an honor graduate of Waco High School; she attended Baylor 1-12 University and graduated with honors from Texas Tech University 1-13 with a bachelor of science degree in education and a master of 1-14 education degree specializing in guidance and counseling; and 1-15 WHEREAS, After working three years for the United States Air 1-16 Force, Glenna Lane taught in public schools at the elementary and 1-17 junior high levels for 20 years; she participated in numerous 1-18 seminars and workshops on various education and health issues at 1-19 both state and national levels; she shared her knowledge with 1-20 others in her field by conducting many classes and workshops for 1-21 teachers and serving on several textbook and curriculum committees; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, Supported throughout her career by her family, she 2-1 is the wife of Eddie Lemond Lane, the mother of two daughters, and 2-2 the grandmother of five grandchildren; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Glenna Lane has been active in professional and 2-4 community organizations and has made notable contributions to local, 2-5 state, and national groups; she has served on the board of directors 2-6 of the Young Women's Christian Association, as education 2-7 coordinator for United Way of Lubbock, president of the Lubbock 2-8 Educators Association, Camp Fire leader, and public school 2-9 coordinator for the Lubbock Arts Festival; and 2-10 WHEREAS, A life member of the Texas State Teachers 2-11 Association, Glenna is a member of the Texas Classroom Teachers 2-12 Association, Phi Delta Kappa, Women in Government, and Hyde Park 2-13 Baptist Church where she is a Sunday school teacher and department 2-14 director; her exceptional record of public service is truly worthy 2-15 of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 74th Legislature, hereby commend Glenna Lane for her lifetime of 2-18 valuable accomplishments and extend best wishes to her for a most 2-19 rewarding and enjoyable retirement; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-21 her as an expression of the high esteem and appreciation of the 2-22 Texas Senate. 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the above 3-1 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-2 on May 25, 1995. 3-3 ______________________________________ 3-4 Secretary of the Senate 3-5 ______________________________________ 3-6 Member, Texas Senate
