    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Larry Hays, coach of the Texas Tech University Red Raider
    1-4  baseball team, on receiving Coach of the Year honors in the Southwest
    1-5  Conference for his team's 1995 performance; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Coach Hays led the Texas Tech University Red Raider
    1-7  baseball team to a four-game sweep of the Baylor Bears and clinched
    1-8  the Southwest Conference Championship; the victory made Texas Tech
    1-9  University the only Texas school to ever win four Southwest
   1-10  Conference championships in the same season; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Triumphant over their strong opponents, the Red
   1-12  Raider baseball team is now considered the dominant force in this
   1-13  year's race to the National Collegiate Athletic Association
   1-14  tournament; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The success of the team is a tribute to the guidance
   1-16  and inspiration of Coach Hays who has now become the winningest
   1-17  baseball coach in Texas Tech University history, with 320 career
   1-18  wins; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession and to the Texas Tech
   1-20  baseball team players, Coach Hays has consistently demonstrated
   1-21  his commitment to excellence, and he has played a major role in the
   1-22  outstanding performance of the 1995 Red Raider team; now, therefore,
   1-23  be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  74th Legislature, hereby commend Larry Hays on his exceptional
    2-3  career and extend congratulations to him on his team's remarkable
    2-4  season; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-6  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
