No. 1224 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Coach James Dickey and his mens basketball team who won 1-4 the Southwest Conference Championship for the 1994-1995 season; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Coach Dickey received Coach of the Year honors 1-7 in 1994 in the Southwest Conference for his team's performance in 1-8 the 1994-1995 basketball season; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He led the Texas Tech Red Raider mens basketball 1-10 team to a share of the Southwest Conference Championship; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Coach Dickey's commitment to excellence 1-12 led his Red Raider ball club to a late-season showdown with 1-13 The University of Texas in Lubbock which was instrumental in 1-14 claiming the Southwest Conference Championship; and 1-15 WHEREAS, He worked hard to build his mens basketball team 1-16 into a dominant team that did not lose a home game all season; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, This outstanding team finished 20-10 for the season, 1-19 reaching the National Invitational Tournament; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The Red Raiders broke a school record for scoring, 1-21 averaging 88.8 points a game; this performance is the seventh best 1-22 in the country; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Coach James Dickey and 2-2 the Texas Tech University mens basketball team on their superb 2-3 achievement in winning the 1995 Southwest Conference Championship; 2-4 and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-6 team and the school as an expression of the high regard and esteem 2-7 of the Texas Senate. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 25, 1995. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
