No. 1225 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Coach Marsha Sharp who has earned the designation 1-4 Southwest Conference Coach of the Year each of the last five 1-5 years; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This outstanding coach won National Coach of the 1-7 Year in 1994 while leading the Texas Tech Lady Raiders to the 1-8 National Collegiate Athletic Association's Elite Eight and to a 1-9 national championship; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Committed to excellence in both education and 1-11 athletics she stresses education first in her program; and 1-12 WHEREAS, By instilling a work ethic of education first, 1-13 Coach Sharp has built a rich tradition of excellent Red Raider 1-14 basketball teams; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Through her leadership and dedication to the game, 1-16 she has propelled Lady Raider basketball to the highest level of 1-17 competition for the fans of West Texas; and 1-18 WHEREAS, She has led the Lady Red Raiders to four consecutive 1-19 Southwest Conference Championships and an outstanding 33-4 record 1-20 in 1994-1995; and 1-21 WHEREAS, She led the Lady Raiders to an unprecedented sweep 1-22 of The University of Texas; the Lady Raiders' home victory over the 1-23 Lady Longhorns was Texas Tech's largest margin of victory in the 2-1 series; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby commend and congratulate Coach Marsha Sharp 2-4 and the Texas Tech Lady Raiders basketball team on their truly 2-5 superb achievement in winning the 1995 Southwest Conference 2-6 Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in the 2-7 future; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-9 Lady Raiders and their notable coach as an expression of the high 2-10 regard and esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on May 25, 1995. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
