    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize Salado High School on the occasion of its becoming the
    1-4  Conference 2A University Interscholastic League Academic State
    1-5  Champions; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Salado High School Academic Team won its
    1-7  impressive victory after high school team members won high points
    1-8  in number sense, mathematics, and persuasive speaking; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In mathematics, Brent Cabaniss won first place and,
   1-10  with his team members Vinny Michna and Kyle Anderson, won the team
   1-11  championship; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In competing in the number sense category, the same
   1-13  team members won with Brent Cabaniss taking first place,
   1-14  Vinny Michna winning second place, and Kyle Anderson winning fifth
   1-15  place; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Salado High School also won the persuasive speaking
   1-17  category, with team member Ricky Engleking winning fifth place; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The family and friends of these outstanding young
   1-19  people are justly proud of the team championship which they won; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Blessed with outstanding teachers who prepared the
   1-21  academic team members, they were fortunate to receive guidance which
   1-22  contributed to their success; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The accomplishments of our state's young citizens
    2-1  are a source of pride for all Texans, and the academic team from
    2-2  Salado High School is certainly deserving of legislative recognition;
    2-3  now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the success of the
    2-6  Salado High School academic team who won the 2A University
    2-7  Interscholastic League State Championship; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  the school as an expression of admiration and esteem from the
   2-10  Texas Senate.
