    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Jacksboro High School Future Farmers of America
    1-3  Range and Pasture team won first place at the national contest held
    1-4  at Oklahoma City on May 4, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This was the first time in the history of the school
    1-6  that the Future Farmers of America team had been the national
    1-7  victor; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Tired but proud, the winning team members had worked
    1-9  hard during the contests to meet their goal to win the national
   1-10  that they had set for themselves in January; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, After winning the area contests, the team advanced
   1-12  to state competition knowing they would have to do well, and they
   1-13  again came in first; with only a week and a half to prepare for
   1-14  nationals, the boys had to learn 42 additional plants; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Coach Joe Ray Burkett is to be commended for
   1-16  preparing his team for national competition which is an entirely
   1-17  different contest from the earlier area and state events; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Team members Ira Owen and Will Mathis, who placed
   1-19  first highest and second highest, were presented a first place
   1-20  trophy and second place medals respectively; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Coach Burkett and the team members, Blain Rumage,
   1-22  Chester Zielinski, Nathan White, Will Mathis, and Ira Owen, are
   1-23  to be commended for their splendid performances in Range and Pasture
    2-1  competition and for their determination to attain their goal; now,
    2-2  therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Jacksboro
    2-5  High School Future Farmers of America Range and Pasture team and
    2-6  their coach for winning first place in the nation; and, be it
    2-7  further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  this exemplary group as an expression of the high regard of the
   2-10  Texas Senate.
