    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Marvene B. Elliott who is retiring from her position
    1-4  as principal of Riverside Park Elementary School after 28 years of
    1-5  loyal service with the San Antonio Independent School District and
    1-6  35 years of service in the field of education; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A graduate of Alabama State University,
    1-8  Marvene Elliott holds a master's degree from The University of Texas
    1-9  in San Antonio and an administrative certificate from the San Antonio
   1-10  Independent School District; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Marvene Elliott began her successful career in
   1-12  education in 1959 as a teacher with the Mobile, Alabama, Independent
   1-13  School District; she later moved to Texas and joined the San Antonio
   1-14  Independent School District in 1968; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Marvene Elliott's talents in the areas of
   1-16  instruction and administration have long been admired by fellow
   1-17  educators; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Over the years, she has received numerous awards
   1-19  and has served on a number of academic committees; she hosted a
   1-20  bilingual education television series while working with students
   1-21  of all nationalities; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, As a teacher, she assisted with a wide array of
   1-23  student activities, and her students greatly benefitted from her
    2-1  skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual,
    2-2  and her wise counsel and encouragement; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, A resourceful and dedicated administrator,
    2-4  Marvene Elliott has been an enthusiastic principal who has inspired
    2-5  the students of Riverside Park Elementary School to persevere in
    2-6  their work and to strive for excellence in all of their endeavors;
    2-7  and
    2-8        WHEREAS, During her many years in the field of education,
    2-9  Marvene Elliott has instilled in her students a sense of pride and
   2-10  a lifelong love of learning, and she has played a major role in
   2-11  making Riverside Park Elementary School the first-rate institution
   2-12  it is today; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-14  74th Legislature, hereby express gratitude to Marvene Elliott for
   2-15  her many contributions to the educational system of Texas and to
   2-16  the young people of our state and extend to her best wishes for the
   2-17  retirement years ahead; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-19  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
