    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The citizens of San Patricio County have benefitted
    1-3  greatly from the dedicated service of County Judge Josephine Miller,
    1-4  and the Texas Senate is proud to commend her for her contributions
    1-5  to the welfare and development of the county; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Judge Miller
    1-7  has earned the admiration and respect of her colleagues and has
    1-8  devoted countless hours to community endeavors; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin,
   1-10  Judge Miller received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in
   1-11  English and holds teacher certificates in English, history, Spanish,
   1-12  and library science; she became a librarian for Alamo Heights High
   1-13  School and served in that capacity for two years before becoming
   1-14  Library Coordinator for the Sinton Independent School District where
   1-15  she served for seven years; she was elected County Judge in 1991; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile achievements of this
   1-17  outstanding public servant in the areas of civic improvement have
   1-18  contributed to the steady progress of the county; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Freely sharing her knowledge and experience with
   1-20  others, Judge Miller is Director of the Mental Health Association
   1-21  of Texas and serves on the Policy Committee of Corpus Christi Bay
   1-22  National Estuary Program; she also devotes her time to her community
   1-23  as Vice-Chairman of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Highly respected for her honesty and integrity,
    2-2  Judge Miller has been diligent and capable in the performance of her
    2-3  duties and has received the admiration and gratitude of those who
    2-4  work with her; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby express its gratitude to County Judge
    2-7  Josephine Miller for her vital and inspiring leadership; and, be
    2-8  it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  Judge Miller as an expression of the high regard of the
   2-11  Texas Senate.
