1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The citizens of Kleberg County have benefitted
1-3 greatly from the dedicated service of County Judge Pete De La Garza,
1-4 and the Texas Senate is proud to commend him for his contributions
1-5 to the welfare and development of the county; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Judge De La Garza
1-7 has earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and has
1-8 devoted countless hours to community endeavors; and
1-9 WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&I University, Judge De La Garza
1-10 received a law degree and served as the chief prosecutor in the
1-11 Nueces County Attorney's office for three years; he is a graduate of
1-12 advanced prosecutor's courses and has attended continuing education
1-13 classes in juvenile law, drug and alcohol commitments, and probate
1-14 law; and
1-15 WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile achievements of this
1-16 outstanding public servant in the areas of civic improvement have
1-17 contributed to the steady progress of the county; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Judge De La Garza was elected Kleberg County
1-19 attorney in 1989 and in 1992; he serves as a legal advisor to all
1-20 county department heads and the Commissioner's Court and has an
1-21 in-depth knowledge of the county budget and county business; and
1-22 WHEREAS, He also devotes his time and energy to his community
1-23 and is active in the Law Enforcement Association, the Boys and Girls
2-1 Club of America, and the Texas and Southwestern Cattleraisers
2-2 Foundation; and
2-3 WHEREAS, Highly respected for his honesty and integrity,
2-4 Judge De La Garza has been diligent and capable in the performance
2-5 of his duties and has received the admiration and gratitude of those
2-6 who work with him; now, therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-8 74th Legislature, hereby express its gratitude to Pete De La Garza,
2-9 County Judge of Kleberg County, for his vital and inspiring
2-10 leadership; and, be it further
2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-12 him as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
