1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The citizens of Brooks County have benefitted
1-3 greatly from the dedicated service of County Judge Joe B. Garcia,
1-4 and the Texas Senate is proud to commend him for his contributions
1-5 to the welfare and development of the county; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Judge Garcia
1-7 has earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and has
1-8 devoted countless hours to community endeavors; and
1-9 WHEREAS, A man who graduated from college with a bachelor's
1-10 degree and holds a master's degree in personnel supervision,
1-11 Joe B. Garcia was recently sworn in as county judge; from 1992
1-12 through 1994, he was affiliated with the Texas Youth Commission; he
1-13 also served as Chief Executive Officer for the County Commissioners
1-14 Board; and
1-15 WHEREAS, The varied and worthwhile achievements of this
1-16 outstanding public servant in the areas of civic improvement have
1-17 contributed to the steady progress of his county; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Freely sharing his knowledge with others,
1-19 Judge Garcia is proud of having established D.W.I. education
1-20 programs for families and students through the probation department,
1-21 served as Vice-Chairman of the 12-county Private Industry Council
1-22 for the Coastal Bend, and has provided drug education programs to
1-23 elementary and junior high school students as a member of
2-1 P.A.D.R.E.S. and as a Juvenile Court Judge; and
2-2 WHEREAS, Highly respected for his honesty and integrity,
2-3 Judge Garcia has been diligent and capable in the performance of
2-4 his duties and has received the admiration and gratitude of those
2-5 who work with him; now, therefore, be it
2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-7 74th Legislature, hereby express its gratitude to County Judge
2-8 Joe B. Garcia for his vital and inspiring leadership; and, be it
2-9 further
2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
2-11 as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
