    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize the El Paso Arsenal Soccer Club for its outstanding
    1-4  accomplishments during the 1994-1995 season; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Composed of 17 players under age 16, the Arsenal
    1-6  Soccer Club won three games and lost only one in their bid to
    1-7  capture the Texas State Division I Under 16 soccer championship
    1-8  held in San Antonio recently; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The team won the El Paso city title to qualify for
   1-10  the state playoffs where they defeated the Austin Longhorns, the
   1-11  Houston Texans, and the Sugar Land Eclipse; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Their impressive record is a tribute to the players'
   1-13  outstanding talent and the loyal enthusiasm they consistently
   1-14  displayed during each game; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Arsenal Soccer Club members were semi-finalists
   1-16  in the Tempe Thanksgiving Tournament and were first place winners
   1-17  in the Whole Enchilada Tournament, Westside Soccer League U-16
   1-18  Champions, and City of El Paso U-16 Champions before winning the
   1-19  State of Texas U-16 Gold Division Championship; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Throughout the season, this fine group of young men
   1-21  have exhibited exceptional athletic ability, selfless team spirit,
   1-22  and the competitive desire to win; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The team's remarkable success is attributable to
    2-1  their own dedication and to the expert guidance of their coaches,
    2-2  Jose Montes, Jr., and Robert Martinez; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Team members Russell Barrett, Brian Campbell,
    2-4  Aldo Gonzalez, Weston Hicks, David Longoria, Sam Martinez,
    2-5  Oscar Mendoza, Bobby Montes, Kenny Nevarez, Rudy Nevarez,
    2-6  Tury Pena, John Prata, James Randie, John Saenz, Noel Salas,
    2-7  David Singh, and Kaleb Wardy have brought recognition and acclaim
    2-8  to themselves, their school, and their community; now, therefore,
    2-9  be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the members of
   2-12  the El Paso Arsenal Soccer Club for their splendid achievements
   2-13  and extend best wishes to them for continued success in their
   2-14  future endeavors; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  the Arsenal Soccer Club as an expression of the high regard of
   2-17  the Texas Senate.
