    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           James E. Prothro
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Wichita Falls in mourning the loss of James E. Prothro, who died
    1-7  recently at the age of 83; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born September 28, 1911, in Wichita Falls,
    1-9  James Prothro graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School in
   1-10  1928; he married Marie Johnson on July 14, 1951; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in
   1-12  1932 and from The University of Texas School of Law in 1936; he
   1-13  served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1946; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, An outstanding lawyer and well-known citizen,
   1-15  Mr. Prothro was in a partnership with Lee Sellers from 1962 until
   1-16  his retirement in 1986; he was a member of the International
   1-17  Association of Lawyers and was a Keeton Fellow of
   1-18  The University of Texas School of Law; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
   1-20  James Prothro was respected for his accomplishments and for his
   1-21  many contributions to his community; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-23  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
    2-1  and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
    2-2  and
    2-3        WHEREAS, James Prothro was a devoted husband, father, and
    2-4  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-5  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
    2-8  family of James E. Prothro:  his wife, Marie Johnson Prothro; his
    2-9  sons, Charles Bradley Prothro and James Johnson Prothro; his
   2-10  brother, Charles Bradley Prothro; and his four grandchildren; and,
   2-11  be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-13  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-14  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-15  in memory of James Prothro.
