1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting and appropriate for the
1-3 Senate of the State of Texas to pay tribute to Norma Hill on
1-4 the momentous occasion of her retirement from 23 years of
1-5 distinguished service to the public schools of Texas; and
1-6 WHEREAS, A graduate of Midwestern State University where she
1-7 earned her bachelor of science degree and master's degree, Norma
1-8 was an outstanding senior in the School of Education and in the
1-9 Honor Program; she was listed in Who's Who Among Students; and
1-10 WHEREAS, The esteemed educator began teaching in the
1-11 Wichita Falls Independent School District in August, 1972, and
1-12 continued until her retirement at the end of the school year in
1-13 1995; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Norma began her career as a third grade teacher at
1-15 Huey Elementary School where she taught for seven years until she
1-16 moved to Jefferson Elementary School in 1979 to teach language arts;
1-17 she taught one year at Alamo Elementary School before becoming the
1-18 principal of Haynes Elementary School; she remained in that position
1-19 until 1988 when she became principal of Milam Elementary School; and
1-20 WHEREAS, With firmness, fairness, and love, Norma Hill
1-21 encouraged young people to pursue excellence by developing their
1-22 natural talents and abilities; and
1-23 WHEREAS, A positive influence in the lives of her students,
2-1 Mrs. Hill worked diligently to provide them with the necessary
2-2 skills to compete in the technological society of the future; and
2-3 WHEREAS, She provided a creative and supportive atmosphere for
2-4 her staff and earned the admiration and respect of her colleagues;
2-5 and
2-6 WHEREAS, Few individuals have given so selflessly of
2-7 themselves to helping our youth as Norma Hill has through her
2-8 wise counsel and caring spirit; now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10 74th Legislature, hereby commend Norma Hill for her exemplary
2-11 work in the Wichita Falls Independent School District and extend
2-12 best wishes for a most rewarding retirement; and, be it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
2-14 as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
