    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated
    1-3  and so it is for Amelia R. Romero who was born on May 30, 1925,
    1-4  in Yoakum, Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Amelia is and has been a portrait of courage for
    1-6  all Texas women by raising nine children totally on her own after
    1-7  the death of her late husband, Juan Leos Romero, in 1961; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Amelia is admired and adored by all of her children,
    1-9  Amelia, John Jr., Eli, Carolyn Diane, Mary Jane, and Jesse Charles;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Amelia was the force that held the Romero family
   1-12  together after the tragic deaths of her sons, Guadalupe, David,
   1-13  and John Gilbert; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Amelia has been a loving grandmother to her
   1-15  grandchildren, Richard, James Eric, David Lee, Michael, April,
   1-16  Felix III, Emiliano Sandino, and Antonio Cesar; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Amelia is a great-grandmother to Rosalinda, Rebecca,
   1-18  Elizabeth Rene, David II, and Ian and a great-great-grandmother
   1-19  to Lydia; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Amelia, in her love of family, bingo, the
   1-21  Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, and the fact that
   1-22  she has never hesitated to extend a helping hand to friends
   1-23  and individuals in need, leads a full and productive life; now,
    2-1  therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  74th Legislature, hereby commend Amelia R. Romero on her
    2-4  70th birthday; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-6  Mrs. Romero as an expression of best wishes from the Texas Senate
    2-7  for continued health and happiness.
