    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                         Santos Garibay Garcia
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the death of beloved resident
    1-7  Santos Garibay Garcia; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in Skidmore, Texas, Santos Garibay married
    1-9  Miguel A. Garcia on June 30, 1940, and together they provided a
   1-10  secure and happy homelife for their three children; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A devoted mother, Mrs. Garcia energetically immersed
   1-12  herself in her children's activities and donated her time and talents
   1-13  to the Parent-Teacher Association and the Boy Scouts of America; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, During her children's school years, she was a room
   1-15  mother who always found time to bake cakes and cookies for school
   1-16  fundraisers; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Dedicated to her family and her church, Mrs. Garcia
   1-18  instilled a strong moral code and a deep sense of honor in her
   1-19  children; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A sympathetic listener, she was always willing to
   1-21  offer words of encouragement and to help those in need; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Living her Christian faith in her daily life in
   1-23  thought, word, and deed, Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Sacred
    2-1  Heart Altar Society, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church's
    2-2  Father Claret Society, and the Third Order of the Franciscans; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Her optimism and cheerfulness endeared her to all
    2-4  who knew her, and she will be deeply missed; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
    2-7  of her family:  her husband, Miguel A. Garcia; her sons, Henry Garcia
    2-8  and Michael A. Garcia, Jr.; her daughter, Clara Alonso; and her seven
    2-9  grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-11  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-12  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
   2-13  do so in memory of Santos Garibay Garcia.
