    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  congratulate KOJO, the California-based design and manufacturing
    1-4  company, on the august occasion of its 20th anniversary on
    1-5  July 26, 1995, and to welcome the company to Texas with the
    1-6  opening of a new manufacturing facility in Dallas; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A full-service designer, converter, and
    1-8  manufacturer of soft goods for the hotel/motel, resort, and
    1-9  cruise ship industries, KOJO will occupy its 70,000 square-foot
   1-10  factory in Dallas in May, 1995; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Recognized as a hotel industry specialist, KOJO
   1-12  has built an excellent reputation with 125,000 square feet of
   1-13  executive office and manufacturing space at its headquarters in
   1-14  Huntington Beach, California; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, With over 1,000 copyrighted "Designs by Koni," and
   1-16  specialized proprietary equipment, KOJO is a pioneer in its field
   1-17  and has changed the way its industry does business; it offers a
   1-18  complete vertical service of fabric design, fabric converting,
   1-19  bedspread and drapery manufacturing, and installation of the
   1-20  finished product, thus allowing the company to provide a superior
   1-21  quality product and service; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, KOJO continues to develop new products and is
   1-23  working to further expand its marketing area with the opening
    2-1  of factories in Silver Springs, Maryland, and Honolulu, Hawaii,
    2-2  in 1996; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Southwest Quilted Products owned by
    2-4  Joe E. Robertson and Koniart Corporation owned by Koni Kim, two
    2-5  complementary entities, merged in 1988 to form one entity, KOJO,
    2-6  "THE HOTEL INDUSTRY SPECIALIST"; it enjoys a prestigious customer
    2-7  base of well-known chains throughout the world; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Joe Robertson works diligently to improve the way
    2-9  his company does business and has pioneered the development of
   2-10  specialized, patented equipment which has improved and expanded
   2-11  KOJO's ability to serve its customers; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, The company is the only soft goods manufacturer in
   2-13  the United States that has its own design staff and the capability
   2-14  to convert the designs into finished products; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, One of the secrets of its success is the complete
   2-16  understanding Koni has of the hotels' needs and the intention of
   2-17  their interior designers; now, therefore, be it
   2-18        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-19  74th Legislature, hereby commend one of Dallas's newest
   2-20  manufacturing stars, KOJO, and extend a hearty Texas welcome to
   2-21  this prestigious company with best wishes for a most rewarding
   2-22  venture in the Lone Star State; and, be it further
   2-23        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-24  the company and its staff as an expression of the high regard of
   2-25  the Texas Senate.
