         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
114 (Relating to the testing and remedial education of certain
students enrolling in public institutions of higher education)
this office has determined the following:

The bill would exempt out-of-state and private school students
from the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) requirements
providing that such students offer proof of attendance at an out-
of-state or private school and sign a statement of their intent
not to seek a degree from a Texas public institution.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
