LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 6, 1995 TO: Honorable Irma Rangel, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 114 Committee on Higher Education By: Hochberg House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 114 (Relating to the testing and remedial education of certain students enrolling in institutions of higher education) this office has determined the following: The bill would exempt from the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) requirements students not enrolled in more than two courses per semester or those students not enrolled in a certificate or degree program. It is estimated that 340 full time equivalent (FTE) students per year attending community colleges and 60 FTE students per year attending senior colleges and universities would not be required to participate in remediation.
