LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 8, 1995 TO: Honorable Keith Oakley, Chair IN RE: Committee Substitute Committee on Public Safety for House of Representatives House Bill Austin, Texas No. 235 FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 235 (relating to the provision of emergency medical information services) this office has determined the following: The bill would permit emergency communication centers to provide emergency medical information under certain conditions. The centers choosing to provide this information must ensure that employees or volunteers receive training under a program approved by the Texas Department of Health (TDH). The department would also be required to produce a protocol for the delivery of emergency medical information. TDH would be allowed to charge fees in association with several provisions of the bill to cover the costs of the bill. No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. There may be costs to local governments for training employees or volunteers and for acquiring associated materials. However, costs to units of local governments cannot be determined.
