House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 405 (relating to the exemption of certain peace officers from provisions of the Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies Act) this office has determined the following: The bill would exempt all peace officers who work private security from regulation. Under current law, only full time employed peace officers who work private security are exempt from regulation. The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of the bill during each of the first five years following passage is estimated as follows: Fiscal Probable Revenue Year Loss to General Revenue Fund 001 1996 $61,225 1997 61,225 1998 61,225 1999 61,225 2000 61,225 Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect.
