LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
April 17, 1995
TO: Honorable Keith Oakley, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 405
Committee on Public Safety By: Longoria, etal.
House of Representatives
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
405 (relating to the exemption of certain peace officers from
provisions of the Private Investigators and Private Security
Agencies Act) this office has determined the following:
The bill would exempt all peace officers who work private
security from regulation. Under current law, only full time
employed peace officers who work private security are exempt from
regulation.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Revenue
Year Loss to
General Revenue
Fund 001
1996 $61,225
1997 61,225
1998 61,225
1999 61,225
2000 61,225
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
The fiscal implication to units of local government cannot be
determined.
