LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 13, 1995 TO: Honorable Kim Brimer, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 530 Committee on Business & Industry By: Van de Putte House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 530 (relating to the installation of smoke detectors with visual alarms in leased dwellings) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend the Property Code to include visual alarm smoke detectors in the sections relating to smoke detectors. In addition, Section 92.2545 is added to require a landlord, upon request of a hearing-impaired tenant, to install a visual smoke detector in each separate bedroom in the dwelling unit that is occupied by the hearing-impaired tenant. No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated. Source: The University of Texas System, School for the Deaf LBB Staff: JK, UP, RR
