LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 28, 1995 TO: Honorable Rene O. Oliveira, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 823, Committee on Economic Development as amended House of Representatives By: Heflin Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 823 (relating to the amount a hotel or motel may charge for a telephone call) this office has determined the following: The fiscal implication to the State or units of local government cannot be determined. There would be a gain to the General Revenue Fund of approximately $100,000 per year if the charge for hotel phone calls was increased to $1. However, it is possible to increase charges to an extent such that total sales taxes remitted on these calls would decline. Source: LBB Staff: JK, RR. Comptroller of Public Accounts
