LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
May 4, 1995
TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: Committee Substitute
Committee on Public Health forHouse Bill
House of Representatives No. 883
Austin, Texas By: McDonald
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
883 (relating to the regulation of certain nursing practices)
this office has determined the following:
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
The bill requires the Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners to
distribute a newsletter, at least twice a year, to licensed
vocational nurses (LVNs) and their employers. Assuming the
newsletter is distributed to 36,000 LVNs, the Board estimates the
cost per year to be $72,000.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Cost Out
Year of General
Revenue Fund 001
1996 $72,000
1997 72,000
1998 72,000
1999 72,000
2000 72,000
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
