LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
February 18, 1995
TO: Honorable Rene O. Oliveira, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1027
Committee on Economic Development By: Oliveira
House of Representatives
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1027 (Relating to certain eligibility conditions for receipt of
unemployment compensation benefits.) this office has determined
the following:
The bill would amend Section 207.021(a), Labor Code to add an
additional eligibility condition to receive unemployment
benefits. The new provision would require claimants identified
by a profiling system as being likely to exhaust benefits to
participate in reemployment services such as a job search
assistance service. An individual would be excused from
participation if the individual had completed participation in
such services or had a reasonable cause for not participating.
No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local
government is anticipated.
