Oliveira, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1027 Committee on Economic Development By: Oliveira House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1027 (Relating to certain eligibility conditions for receipt of unemployment compensation benefits.) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend Section 207.021(a), Labor Code to add an additional eligibility condition to receive unemployment benefits. The new provision would require claimants identified by a profiling system as being likely to exhaust benefits to participate in reemployment services such as a job search assistance service. An individual would be excused from participation if the individual had completed participation in such services or had a reasonable cause for not participating.
