In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1192 (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of the Texas
Volunteer Health Corps.) this office has determined the
following:

The goal of the Texas Volunteer Health Corps is to improve
community-based public health services. The Volunteer Corps will
link five volunteer populations (seniors; interns, students and
youth; VISTA and AmeriCorps volunteers; AFDC "Jobs" training
program participants; and individuals from business and community
volunteer networks) with residents of local communities in order
to:
1. Involve local residents in preventive health care.
2. Expand the role of residents in making decisions about their
own health.
3. Build community support for public health.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
