TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1200
Committee on Public Health By: Rodriguez
         House of Representatives

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1200 (Relating to the regulation of medical radiologic
technologists and other persons who perform radiologic
procedures; providing civil and criminal penalties.) this office
has determined the following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would make certain modifications to the Medical
Radiologic Technologist Certification Act. The bill would
specify mandatory training requirements for persons, other than
practitioners, as defined by the act, who administer radiation to
another person for medical purposes. Persons who perform
radiologic procedures under the instruction or direction of a
practioner would be exempted from the minimum standards of
education.

The bill would authorize the Department of Health to take
disciplinary action against persons certified for violation of
provisions of the Act, as well as define actions that would make
a certified individual subject to discipinary action.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The fiscal implication to units of local government cannot be
determined.
