LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 13, 1995 TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1200 Committee on Public Health By: Rodriguez House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1200 (Relating to the regulation of medical radiologic technologists and other persons who perform radiologic procedures; providing civil and criminal penalties.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would make certain modifications to the Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification Act. The bill would specify mandatory training requirements for persons, other than practitioners, as defined by the act, who administer radiation to another person for medical purposes. Persons who perform radiologic procedures under the instruction or direction of a practioner would be exempted from the minimum standards of education. The bill would authorize the Department of Health to take disciplinary action against persons certified for violation of provisions of the Act, as well as define actions that would make a certified individual subject to discipinary action.
