LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 5, 1995 TO: Honorable Kenny Marchant, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1298 Committee on Financial Institutions By: Carona House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1298 (relating to access to criminal history record information by the banking commissioner) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. HB1298 would allow the Department of Banking, through its Special Audits function, to request a Criminal Record Check for the following licensees under its purview: - Applicants for state chartered banks; - Bank Trust Companies; - Currency exchange licensees; - Sale of Check licensees; - Perpetual Care Cemeteries; and - Pre-paid Funeral Contract licensees.
