LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
March 13, 1995
TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1551
Committee on Judicial Affairs By: Greenberg
House of Representatives
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1551 (relating to judicial training in family violence, sexual
assault, and child abuse issues) this office has determined the
following:
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
The bill would require the Court of Criminal Appeals to adopt
rules to ensure that each district and statutory county court
judge complete at least eight hours of training in problems of
family violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Cost Out
Year of Judicial &
Court
Training Fund 540
1996 $246,000
1997 246,000
1998 246,000
1999 246,000
2000 246,000
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
