LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session February 28, 1995 TO: Honorable John Smithee, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1605 Committee on Insurance By: Hunter, Todd House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1605 (relating to the licensing of insurance agents) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would amend the Insurance Code to authorize two new entities to be licensed as agents: limited liability partnerships registered with the Secretary of State and limited liability companies organized under the Texas Limited Liability Company Act. Licensing these entities as agents would not change existing Department of Insurance procedures and any additional workload could be absorbed within existing licensing functions. No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated. Source: Department of Insurance LBB Staff: JK, RM, RR
