In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1878 (relating to costs of empaneling a jury) this office has
determined the following:

The bill would require a party that requests a jury trial under
Rule 216 or Rule 544 of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure to pay
for the costs of empaneling the jury.  The bill would result in a
savings to local units of government who pay the costs of jury
trials.


The fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
cannot be determined.
