LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 14, 1995 TO: Honorable Clyde Alexander, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1905 Committee on Transportation By: Combs House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1905 (Relating to enforcement of a motor vehicle warranty.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would include ALL motor vehicles in the Motor Vehicle Code requiring a manufacturer, converter, or distributor to make repairs necessary to conform a vehicle to the applicable express warranties, notwithstanding that the repairs are made after the expiration of the warranties if current reporting requirements are met. In addition, the bill would amend provisions relating to replacement of vehicles and time limits for bringing action. The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of the bill during each of the first five years following passage is estimated as follows: Fiscal Probable Cost Out Probable Revenue Change in Year of State Highway Gain to General Number of State Fund 006 Revenue Fund 001 Employees from FY 1995 1996 $159,214 $10,920 4.0 1997 139,214 10,920 4.0 1998 139,214 10,920 4.0 1999 139,214 10,920 4.0 2000 139,214 10,920 4.0 Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source: Department of Transportation LBB Staff: JK, ML, DF
