TO: Honorable John Smithee, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1933
         Committee on Insurance By: DeLaGarza
         House of Representatives
         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
1933 (relating to the provision of information to the holders of
certain insurance policies) this office has determined the
following:

The bill would amend the Insurance Code to establish 30 days as
the period in which a workers' compensation insurer must respond
to a policyholder's request for a list of claims charged against
the policy, the payments and reserves on each claim and an
explanation of the relationship of claims and premium rates. The
bill would also require property and casualty insurers to provide
policyholders with a list of claims charged against the policy
and the payments and reserves on each claim.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
