LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 25, 1995 TO: Honorable Keith Oakley, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 1960 Committee on Public Safety By: Alexander House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 1960 (relating to security officers of the Texas Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Authority commissioned as peace officers) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would amend Chapter 402, Texas Health and Safety Code, by allowing the Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Authority to employ and commission peace officers. The bill would also define the jurisdiction of the peace officers. The bill would amend Article 2.12 Code of Criminal Procedure, by adding the Authority to the list of entities who may commission peace officers. No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated.
