LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 23, 1995 TO: Honorable Ron Lewis, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2143 Committee on County Affairs By: DeLaGarza House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2143 (Relating to the creation of an emergency services district and simultaneous dissolution of a rural fire prevention district.) this office has determined the following: The bill would establish guidelines for filing a petition calling for the creation of an emergency services district and the simultaneous dissolution of one or more rural fire prevention districts. On the granting of the petition, the commissioners court would be required to order an election to confirm the creation of the emergency services district, to authorize an ad valorem tax rate not to exceed $0.10 per $100. of taxable value of the property taxable by the district and to assume the assets and liabilities of each rural fire prevention district that is proposed to be dissolved.
