FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2168 (relating to participation and credit in, contributions to,
and benefits and administration of the Texas Municipal Retirement
System) this office has determined the following:

The bill would allow municipalities that participate in the Texas
Municipal Retirement System to contribute no more than an
additional 0.5 percent of payroll in order to actuarially fund an
optional change in benefit eligibility.

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The fiscal impact of this optional eligibility change to those
municipalities that participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement
System cannot be determined.
