LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 25, 1995 TO: Honorable Tom Craddick, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2185 Committee on Ways & Means By: Romo House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2185 (Relating to the assessment of court costs for certain criminal offenses.) this office has determined the following: The bill would repeal 10 court fees and replace them with uniform court fees. The proposed fees would be $70 for felonies convictions, $50 for Class A and Class B misdemeanors, and $35 for Class C misdemeanors and similar offenses. Counties would remit $7.50 of each fee collected to the Comptroller and retain the remainder. Revenue received by the State would be allocated to various accounts in the General Revenue Fund.
