LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 10, 1995 TO: Honorable Irma Rangel, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2187 Committee on Higher Education By: Kamel House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2187 (Relating to coordination between The University of Texas at Tyler and other institutions of higher education) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would authorize The University of Texas at Tyler to enter into partnership agreements with any public or private junior college, community college, or other two-year vocational, technical, or postsecondary educational institution. The bill would make any such agreements subject to the provisions of Chapter 51, Subchapter N of the Education Code. It is assumed that there may be some cost savings due to increased efficiencies as a result of a partnership agreement; however, these cost savings would be realized by the institutions and would not affect state formula funding. No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated. Source: Higher Education Coordinating Board LBB Staff: JK, LS, WRR
