LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 24, 1995 TO: Honorable Curtis Seidlits, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2198 Committee on State Affairs By: Raymond House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2198 (Relating to establishing a pilot program to use suitable underutilized state property for community gardens and farmers markets for the benefit of low income and needy families.) this office has determined the following: The bill would establish a task force to develop, implement, and evaluate a food production and farmer's market pilot program to benefit low income families. The task force would select at least two communities for the program from suitable state property identified by the General Land Office as underutilized . Agencies represented on the task force, which would be abolished on September 1, 1997, would be required to provide resources, information and staff support for the pilot program. However, it is not expected that involved agencies would incur additional costs as a result of this provision. No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated.
