TO: Honorable Clyde Alexander, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2219
Committee on Transportation By: Hunter, Todd
         House of Representatives
         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2219 (Relating to establishing the Center for Ports and
Waterways.) this office has determined the following:

The bill would establish the Center for Ports and Waterways at
the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), a component of the
Texas A&M University System. The center would employ personnel
as well as accept gifts or research from any public, federal, or
private source. The Texas Transportation Institute has the
authority to perform the responsibilities that would be assigned
to it upon passage of the bills and the creation of the center is
consistent with the mission of TTI in conducting research in all
modes of transportation. It is anticipated that the center's
budget will be funded by external research grants and contracts.
As a result, there will be no fiscal implication to the State or
units of local government.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
