LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 18, 1995 TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2398 Committee on Judicial Affairs By: Thompson House of Representatives Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2398 (relating to duties of the district clerk) this office has determined the following: The bill would eliminate the report filed on the last day of each term by the district clerk reporting the fines and jury fees received during the term of the court and amounts paid to the jurors. The bill would increase fees for issuing a subpoena from $4 to $8, create fees for a petition for pre-indictment writ of habeas corpus ($45), a third party petition ($15) and would cap the cost of a non-certified copy of at $1. The bill would eliminate certain other fees and would provide that the $20 jury fee, which currently applies only to counties with a population exceeding 2 million, would apply to all counties in Texas.
