In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2422 (relating to the authority of a court to order a defendant
convicted of a misdemeanor to pay restitution in lieu of a fine)
this office has determined the following:

The bill would modify Article 42.037(a) of the Code of Criminal
Procedure to authorize a court to order restitution as well as a
fine in misdemeanor cases.


No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
